Warp Visuals was tasked with creating a music video for the track. Much like " Fade" became " Faded", the track was swiftly made into " The Spectre", which included vocals, and a more elaborate production. " Spectre" had shown great potential when performed live on tour. Alan had some "hidden gems", created before signing to Sony Music. The sheet music shows the melodies with sample accompaniment.While " Faded" was Alan Walker's big hit, new potential hits were released rapidly. The theme and variations are shown below:įrom top to bottom: Theme, Variation 1a, and Variation 1b. While Spectre's theme isn't as similar to its variations as Fade's is to its counterparts, it still does share many similar notes, with those on the same beat highlighted in blue. Variation 1b is exactly the same as variation 1a, but with the notes of the melody doubled. Just like Fade, Spectre is based on a 4-bar theme and variations. Spectre is set to a tempo of 128 BPM and a key of C♯ minor, with a chord progression of C♯ - A - E - B. Walker rather simply intended to "head back to the beginning to the music that started everything." Analysis Composition The uploading of these videos to Walker's channel also doesn't necessarily make up for the tracks' removal from NCS.

This video is part of a series of new official music videos of his former NCS tracks, going by the name "Origins", although these videos aren't associated with NCS themselves. A channel by the name "Deleted NCS - Circle Spectrum", known for uploading former NCS videos, re-uploaded Spectre the following day. As of now, The Spectre has over 1 billion views on YouTube, making it Walker's third most popular track after Faded and Alone.Īfter being the third most popular video in the NCS channel with somewhere between 200 and 300 million views, Spectre was taken down on Novemdue to Walker's contract with NCS expiring. It wasn't able to top the chart of Walker's native Norway, only peaking at number 5. Upon its release, it was a success, albeit to a lesser extent than Faded. The 2016 version of The Spectre continued to be performed live until Walker released a new version to YouTube on September 15, 2017, which shares even less similarities with the original Spectre than the 2016 version does. Obviously, it does share many similarities with Spectre, but not as much as Faded does with Fade. One of the tracks featured in the live performance is a vocal remake of Spectre named "The Spectre". Just over a year later, on December 22, 2016, Walker performed live in his hometown of Bergen. Spectre became the sixth track of the NCS: The Best of 2015 album, which was released on December 18, 2015. He went with the name "Spectre", and it was released less than 2 months later. Walker then planned to release another track through the label.
Since 2014, Walker transitioned to producing House tracks after producing Hands Up tracks between 20.įollowing Fade's release through NCS in November 2014, the track became an instant success.
